- The Greek-born producer will release his next full-length through DFA in June.
Larry Gus will drop Years Not Living on June 25th.
Greek-born, US-based producer Panagiotis Melidis started his musical career in the early 2000s with his experimental band Ginger. In 2006 he adopted the Larry Gus pseudonym (Greek for "larynx") and initially focused on commission work. He released an LP under the name on Greek imprint Cast-A-Blast in 2009 and last year gave away a free album through DFA.
Melidis returned to Greece for the writing and recording of Years Not Living, which was inspired by the work of author Georges Perec and musician Lucio Battisti, whose 1974 album Anima Latina was a landmark in Italy's progressive rock scene. The record veers from percussive dance experiments to dense psychedelic pop, and was compiled out of a whopping 85 songs written during the LP sessions.
