- !K7 have tapped the indie-pop trio for their next compilation.
English indie outfit Friendly Fires have mixed the next edition of Bugged Out! presents Suck My Deck, due for release next month on !K7.
Since their self-titled album launched them to fame in 2008, Friendly Fires have been known for their upbeat, melodic style of indie rock, but the band say electronic music has always been important to them. "When we formed the band one of the main things we wanted to do was make danceable music because dance music was one of the things we bonded over," says Jack Savidge, the group's drummer, whose DJ career predates his time with Friendly Fires.
On their debut mix CD, the band show a fairly wide-ranging taste for club records, mixing up disco artists like Tensnake and Lindstrom with the likes of Redshape and Ryan Crosson. The CD also features a collaborative effort by Friendly Fires and production outfit Azari & III. Entitled "Stay Here," the tune was written and recorded specifically for the mix. "It's an interesting sideline for us to make a house track because we listen to a lot of house music," says the band's guitarist, Edd Gibson.
