Matthew Dear, Dam-Funk and Oneohtrix Point Never are all scheduled to appear at the three-day festival this October.
VIA is an annual music and new media festival that is set to stage its first edition in Pittsburgh this fall.
Kicking off on Friday, October 1, VIA will introduce itself to the local populace with a program of free workshops at an undetermined location. Saturday, meanwhile, will bare the brunt of most of VIA's sonic action. From 2pm-4am the historic Iron City Brewery will be hosting a nicely manageable cast list of electronic music names which includes Ghostly's Matthew Dear, Stones Throws' Dam-Funk, breakthrough Californian post hip hop producer Tokimonsta and Brooklyn-based experimentalist Oneohtrix Point Never. The performances will be split across five warehouses and two stages.
Moving on to Sunday, it'll be the turn of the city's Lawrenceville Moose Lodge to play host. !!!, Javelin, Fol Chen and Blues Control will be among the acts padding out the day's 6pm-2am time allocation. There will also be a sharp focus on visual performance as a whole host of artists "working at the forefront of video, game design and live music visualization" nourish retinas over the two days.
