- Nang will release the nu-disco artist's next LP in December.
This December, Max Essa will release a new album, Unlimited Man, under a new name, Jan Ken Po.
Essa is an English DJ and producer currently based in Tokyo. His usual sound is Balearic nu-disco with a bit of '80s throwback, sometimes led by his own vocals, but on Unlimited Man he tones things down a bit with nine instrumental cuts more squarely focused on the club—as the label puts it, "more Berlin, less Monaco" (at least by Essa's standards). It will be his first record as Jan Ken Po, a project that first surfaced earlier this year, and his first release on UK disco mainstay Nang Records (aside from his collaboration with Heels of Love from March). Keeping up with his typically brisk release schedule, it comes barely more than a year after his last album, White Shoes, Blue Dreams, and will be his fifth release overall in 2011.
