- L.I.E.S. will release a double-LP of the producer's early musical experiments in June.
Marcos Cabral will release his debut album, False Memories, through L.I.E.S. in June.
Cabral is a seasoned producer, and is generally known for his disco-tinged house output as well as his collaborative work as Runaway with fellow New York-based artist Jacques Renault. His debut album comprises 14 tracks recorded to cassette between 1998 and 2000, with a raw techno feel that fits neatly with the L.I.E.S. aesthetic. False Memories is Cabral's second appearance on Ron Morelli's label, following 2011's limited-run 24 Hour Flight EP.
"I knew nothing about making music [in 1998] and was using this fairly primitive wav. looping program called Acid," Cabral says. "I just started recording my crappy Roland MC-303 into my computer and would just mash loops together over and over. Listening to these tracks now, I have a really vague memory of making them, and feel that their naive nature and the happy accidents that happened here are pretty exciting to listen to."
Now entering its fourth year, L.I.E.S. is showing no sign of easing up its relentless release schedule: in 2013 they've already put out records from Daywalker + CF, Florian Kupfer and Vereker, and have announced forthcoming 12-inches from Steve Summers, Delroy Edwards and Svengalisghost. False Memories will be the label's third album following last year's efforts from Jahiliyya Fields and Professor Genius. For an idea of what to expect from the album, head over to the L.I.E.S.
