- The double-disc Hardcore Traxx: Dance Mania Records 1986-1997 will land in January.
Strut Records will release Hardcore Traxx: Dance Mania Records 1986-1997 in January of next year.
The compilation comes not too long after news that the long-dormant seminal Chicago label was to relaunch with a series of its own reissues. Dance Mania was an important force in Chicago dance music throughout its lifespan, and was especially instrumental in pioneering the ghetto house sound from artists like DJ Funk and DJ Deeon in the early-mid '90s. Hardcore Traxx sets its sights beyond just that era, however, also chronicling the imprint's earlier years where it peddled house and acid from the likes of Tyree, Rhythm II Rhythm and Hercules.
For the collection, Strut collaborated with the newly active Dance Mania itself as well as Dublin DJ Conor Keeling. Chicago artist Chrissy Murderbot conducted interviews for the booklet in the compilation's physical release, which also comes with rare photos according to FACT.
