- Composed of four extended tracks named for a historic sanatorium complex near Berlin, The Soul Is Quick is due out in February.
Axel Willner, AKA The Field, is releasing an album under the name Hands this February called The Soul Is Quick.
The album is composed of four extended tracks composed in March and April 2012. Each of them is named after Beelitz Heilstätten, a 19th-century sanitorium complex southwest of Berlin. Originally used to treat tuberculosis patients, it became a military hospital during World War I. (The press release notes that as a young man, Adolf Hitler received treatment there for a thigh injury.) "The Soul Is Quick is a protest record for when you've had enough of how the world works," Willner writes. "When you find yourself taking inspiration from human decay rather than brighter things." Expect the producer to show a more droning, noisy side of his musical personality than you typically get from material made under his more famous alias. Ecstatic, the label run by Kompakt group Walls, will handle the release.
