- Dopplereffekt, Barker & Baumecker, Deepchild and JETS feature on the Berlin label's roundup.
Leisure System has released its first label compilation, LSD1.
The Berlin outfit—RA's latest label of the month—have pulled together a mix of unreleased tracks and cuts from the Leisure System back catalogue. The 20-track compilation runs in the same order as Barker's label of the month mix. (The label has been leaving clues about the identity of the artists featured on the mix online since the feature went live.)
"All of the tracks were exciting discoveries for me, in one way or another," says Barker, who co-founded Leisure System with Ned Beckett. "A frequent difficulty in presenting and promoting music, even to sympathetic ears, is that the feeling of finding something yourself is lost, replaced with a sense you are succumbing to an advertising campaign. So my hope for the mix was to translate this excitement of personal discovery, and by diffusing the tracklisting via the artist profiles, offer up a starting point for a virtual adventure."
Available in a limited edition of 50, the compilation arrives on a "microSD card, inside an SD adapter, inside a larger custom SD casing, made from laser-cut, etched, and CNC-milled acrylic glass." In addition to the 20-track compilation, you'll also get the first ten Leisure System releases. It's being sold exclusively via the label's website.
