- Carsten Nicolai says his next LP is "a soundtrack to a film that actually does not exist in reality."
Alva Noto will revisit his Xerrox album series with a third LP coming on his own Raster-Noton label this month.
Due out March 30th, Xerrox Vol. 3 arrives five years on from the second Xerrox full-length. (The first came out back in 2007.) As the series' name implies, it sees Carsten Nicolai making samples of samples to alter the source material beyond recognition. Nicolai says he drew inspiration for Xerrox Vol. 3 from films he watched in his childhood, like Tarkovsky's Solaris and La Isla Misteriosa y el Capitán Nemo, a mini-series based on Jules Verne's The Mysterious Island. He calls the record a "cinematographic emotion of a soundtrack to a film that actually does not exist in reality," adding, "I see Xerrox Vol. 3 as my most personal album so far. I have to admit that this emotional output is a surprise even for myself."
