- The LA artist's latest record coincides with a modern dance show in Central Park.
Ryat's next LP, Alt Mode, will come out on August 28th.
Alt Mode is Christina McGeehan's first album since 2012's Totem, which saw release on Brainfeeder—though she's appeared on records by MAST, Taylor McFerrin and Botany since. The producer, multi-instrumentalist and singer composed the new record to go with a "projection mapping interactive modern dance show," which will premiere at Central Park's SummerStage on August 19th. The music was reportedly influenced by McGeehan's experience working with the dancers.
"Alt Mode embodies feminist narratives and complex experimentation," drawing from McGeehan's "avant jazz improvisations, hip-hop sampling culture, sound processing and electronic beat couture," according to Unspeakable Records, who will handle the release.
