- The LP sees the German artist abandoning his usual approach of prepared piano.
Hauschka will release an album through Sony Classical on February 8th.
Volker Bertelmann's latest LP, A Different Forest was inspired by his love of nature, particularly aimless walks through forests.
"My way of composing is similar to walking freely through the forest," he says. "When wandering you simply set off into the unknown. You find yourself in surroundings where nothing can be certain and you must trust your own senses in order to find orientation. You select the starting point and certain pointers along the way, but you cannot foresee what will take place en route."
Though Bertelmann is known especially for his work with prepared piano, A Different Forest sees him returning to simple solo piano, meant as a "plea for us to protect and preserve our natural world," according to the press release.
