Four visual artists will feature across the year, creating bespoke videos and posters to accompany the venue's monthly listings.
East London venue The Glove That Fits is launching a year-long residency programme in March, pairing visual artists with producers.
Four designers—Philip Rugo, Nic Hamilton, Thomas Traum and Tristian Jalleh—will rotate on a three-month basis from March 2019 through February 2020. Each will be paired with a producer, except Adult Swim affiliate Philip Rugo, who will score his own work. The designers will be tasked with creating bespoke videos and posters to accompany the venue's monthly listings announcements.
The producers will soundtrack these videos. After Rugo handles March through May, Hamilton, who has worked with Actress, will partner with Space Afrika, followed by Dekmantel collaborator Traum and Irish artist J Colleran. Melbourne-based designer Tristian Jalleh and Afrodeutsche round out the programme.
The designers have been briefed "to create an interconnected narrative and developing digital storylines with one key 'artefact,'" according to The Glove That Fits. This artefact will then be produced and sold at the venue.
Upcoming musical highlights at the Hackney spot include Tenderlonious, Junq, Kirsti and An-i, who will headline the venue's first birthday on Friday, March 22nd.
