On Sunday, May 30, 2004, Sleeve Magazine, Headinghome and Utensil Recordings unite to present the 8th Annual Futurehouse summer kickoff celebration at the historic Grand Avenue Nightclub in downtown Los Angeles. Featuring a groundbreaking lineup of heavy-hitting jocks, dance floor maestros and local LA tastemakers, this incredible event is truly not to be missed!
In the main room, Headinghome Recordings plays host to Chicago’s finest, DJ Heather and Diz, both set to deliver the funky Chi-town bang alongside quirky German native Markus Nikolai of Perlon Records, whose live performance will open your mind and body to the darker side of dance. Afterwards, come out of the dark and dig deep with up-and-comer Justin Martin of Utensil and Buzzin’ Fly and KCRW airwave diva Liza Richardson, with Futurehouse’s leading lady, LA darling Lillyanne of Headinghome, rounding things out for the long-time fans. Diehard dancers will delight once daylight breaks and the one and only DJ Harvey hits the decks to drop an exclusive early morning closing set. Down in the basement, score your sonic fix of leftist house, trippy disco and dance classics as Sleeve Magazine, celebrating the launch of its fifth and best issue yet, hosts highly anticipated, six-hour extended sets from the always eclectic Lillyanne and her ubiquitous partner in vinyl crime, selection guru Paul T. Upstairs in room three, follow the sound of deep tech funk as LA-based label, Utensil Recordings, proudly presents production phenom Lance DeSardi, disco don DJ Duke, hometown heroes Tony Watson, the Bodyrock DJs, Tony Powell and Ricardo Ramos, with Futurehouse visionary Hawkeye of Headinghome Recordings performing live alongside fellow label staple John Juster on sax, vocals and FX.
