- The LP, out in August, features Colombian band La Perla, trumpeter Ms MAURICE and more.
British composer and saxophonist Nubya Garcia is putting out her first LP on August 21st.
SOURCE was co-produced by Garcia and Kwes, who has worked with artists like Solange and Bobby Womack in the past. The album incorporates soul, dubstep and Afrodiasporic sounds into jazz, including the reggae-influenced title track and single, which Garcia says is about "being OK with reaching out to people and supporting one another."
Among the artists featured on SOURCE are the Colombian band La Perla, London-based trumpeter Ms MAURICE, Chicago pianist and artist Akenya, British saxophonist Cassie Kinoshi and Kokoroko member (and trombonist) Richie Seivwright.
Garcia has released two solo EPs over the past few years. She plays in the ensembles Maisha and Nérija, and has also worked with artists like Swindle and Makaya McCraven.
