  • Longstanding Cape Town venue The Waiting Room is closing down. "After more than ten years of operation, hosting hundreds of different events and a multitude of artists across every genre and theme imaginable, The Waiting Room will be closing its doors," the venue wrote on Instagram. "Our iconic venue has been an incubator for so many phenomenal events and ideas over the years, and has been the starting point of countless careers within the music and creative space in Cape Town." No reason was given for the closure, and the post hinted that The Waiting Room may return in some form in the future. "As one door closes, another will open," it read. A closing party, featuring sets from the likes of Fish Parcel, Crayons and Alvinator, will take place this Saturday, May 11th. Located in the city centre, The Waiting Room has been hosting bands and DJs since opening its doors in 2007. Past guests over the years include Tama Sumo, Lakuti, Julz Sanchez and DJ Call Me.
