- Purveyors of the hard breakbeat scene, Bill Vega and New Decade have opened up a new label - Full Intent Records - parting ways with Wireframe who released their previous singles, Mind Beats and Dynamics. The first release on Full Intent is a phat slab of dark breaks, enough to tickle the fancy of fans of Supercharged, Botchit & Scarper and Passenger.
Side A. Domination
For those who have heard their previous tune Mind Beats will recall the heavy drum breaks featuring harsh and deep sounding snares - kinda like putting drum'n'bass on 33rpm. Domination uses the same effect to good measure - it's intent is to "dominate" the speakers. Throwing in a couple of twisted tech melodies and some feminine overtones to create some atmosphere, Bill Vega and New Decade open up Full Intent's label roster with a dominatrix.
Side B. Prophecy
A dark, brooding bassline featuring a few melodic twists, crisp rolling breakbeats and scratch samples make up Prophecy. Add in a couple of build ups and you've got one hell of a breaks monster. Basic hip hoppy elements put on 45rpm to create a simple yet effective tune.
Just when I thought I was over the harder sounds of breaks, in comes this release and lures me back in.
