- Repitch has rolled out the heavy hitters for its third 12-inch of 2014. Sleeparchive and Mike Parker, two artists that have long been admired by the label's founders, debut with a side each. In keeping with Repitch's recent style, the tracks here are more banging than hypnotic but with just enough trippiness to send at least a few dancers into a daze.
Your set will need to be going exceptionally well before you think about dropping the needle on the outer-half of the A-side. Sleeparchive's "Fifth Station" should be reserved for only the liveliest peak-time slots, with galloping drums, spin-backs and a distorted bassline combining for a cracking five-minute weapon. Two handy, untitled locked grooves follow, both with the same relentless feel. The bleeping, more subdued "White Angel Breadline" closes the side.
Mike Parker's offerings are more accessible. "Flying Nerves" is the record's most chilled moment, but it still isn't warm-up material—it's more suited to providing respite between heavier selections. "Lustrum" features trademark Mike Parker hypnotics paired with a pounding kick drum. Dense and powerful, this too is probably best used to switch things up mid-party.
