- Acid.
- Earworm 303s, tough basslines, punchy drums and vocal samples—you know a Justin Cudmore track when your hear one. The Midwest-bred, New York-based producer and DJ's latest EP is two storming tracks on London's Phonica White label that recall the vibe of his breakout record, Crystal. "Twisted Love," the A-side, also recalls Cudmore's much-loved Forget It EP on The Bunker New York, the label and booking agency that has contributed to his steady success over the last few years. The track thrives in its simplicity, acid that's not overwhelmed by too many parts or switch-ups. There's a chugging acid line, a deep bass drum, handclaps and a fierce diva vocal that gets chopped and teased.
"About To Burst" has more of a late-night feel, full of spacey synths, tough hi-hats and laser sounds that arrive and fade like a crashing wave. The synth arpeggios eventually morph into an acid bassline that takes you to the finish. Where other artists might try to change their sound with each release, Cudmore seems at peace doing what he does best. The outcome sounds like a producer confident in their own sound.
