- Olive T, the well-loved New York DJ, spent the pandemic honing her production skills, and it shows. San Diego-based Bouquet Records is behind her solo vinyl debut, Goin Up, which sees her collaborating with Tiro and looking back on the classic house music she first discovered as a '90s kid listening to Tony Humphries on Kiss FM. While the idea of falling in love with house music via Humphries sets on FM radio is remarkable on its own, the native New York childhood musical formatives also included Soca, freestyle and the hip-hop sound that New York owned in the early '90s. The inherent "bounce" of all these musics is present across Goin Up, but "Opaque" is the one, its swaggering bassline and deep atmospherics recalling the Burrell Brothers' Nu Groove hot streak.
